Brantley County typifies rural Southeast Georgia, with a population of just under 15,000 people spread over 440 square miles according to the latest census.

The Brantley County school system is one of the best in the region. It currently consists of three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Construction is already underway for a second middle school and long-range plans include a new 50-acre high school facility.

The single greatest natural resource of Brantley County is its Satilla River. Mysterious black waters flow past snowy white sand banks, as the Satilla travels farther through Brantley County than any other in its watershed - approximately 50 miles.

The majority of the land in Brantley County remains forested either naturally or by timber companies, leaving thousands of acres for wildlife to flourish in abundant variety.
